Yesterday, I went to Aquinas College's Spectrum Scholarship Competition. A lot of other kids came, including one of my friends.
First of all, I'm about 99.9% sure that I'll be going to Aquinas. The .1% is the part of me which is still concerned whether I really want to spend a lot of money on college and take out loans. On the other hand, it 's looking like I'd end up paying less than I would if I went to a public university like MSU. My reasoning is that, if I'm going to spend any money at all on college, I might as well spend it on a good private college education. Aquinas seems like a college that would be a good fit educationally, socially, etc. I love the idea of a small campus and small class sizes, next to such a large and exciting city like Grand Rapids. Plus, their campus is absolutely gorgeous.
The Spectrum Scholarship Competition went very well, in my opinion. I wasn't at all nervous (maybe a little bit...) and I tried to be myself. They give away 30 scholarships. It's a small chance to get one, so I can only hope and pray. It'd be such a relief to get more money, especially if it were one of the full ride scholarships. It doesn't seem likely I'd get any of them, especially the full ride, but, again... I can only hope and pray for a miracle. I'll find out the results by April 1st.
I'm excited for you! I will come and visit and I love Grand Rapids!
ReplyDeleteYou will not regret the choice to spend more money on the higher education when you can do so in an atmosphere such as the one at Aquinas. :)
